A Monday morning brain teaser, just for fun. Here is a tasting note, unadulterated, from the label on the bottle in front of me.

“Aroma is characterized by a definite green fruity hint, vegetal notes of country grass, thistle and leaf. Bitterness and pungency are well-balanced and very intense, which confirms the olfactory green fruity hint. It finishes with a pleasant flavor of green almond."

Post up a guess and I’ll post up the correct answer on Tuesday.

Hmmmmm...sounds like Sauvignon Blanc, particularly from "pungency" and "country grass". The green almond is throwing me off. I'll stick with a young (2010 or 2011) Sauvignon, even though it does not seem to be a common varietal in the PNW. Could I be more wrong?

And the winner is... None! The quote comes directly and unaltered off the label of a bottle of Colli Etruschi Classic olive oil. There is even a mini-aroma wheel icon with descriptors such as "harmony, fluidity, bitterness, pungency, walnut husk, leaf, and artichoke." Thanks to all who ventured a guess. We'll do this again sometime down the road. Tomorrow, back to our regularly scheduled ranting...
