The International Pinot Noir Celebration, held on the lush campus of Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon every July, is celebrating its 26th anniversary this year. Without a doubt this is the single event I most look forward to each summer, and one I never grow tired of. For Pinot Noir lovers, it’s a marathon, a three-ring circus, and a homecoming reunion all rolled into one.

It is an eclectic, welcoming event, attended by a mix of winemakers from around the world, wine retailers and wine media, chefs and somms and foodies, along with a healthy proportion of consumers. This year, Executive Director Amy Wesselman is introducing the “University of Pinot”, adding more content, more seminars, and more intimacy to the overall event.

As of a few days ago, spaces were still available for all seminars, although the Jadot tasting and Sensory Evaluation course were (predictably) almost full. Though not a cheap ticket, IPNC is worth every nickel and more. I’ll be there with several of my oldest, best wine-slurping pals, who are venturing into the Oregon wilds for the first time.

Here is where to go for full details and sign-ups:

IPNC
The website offers this executive summary of the event:

Now in its 26th year, the IPNC is a three-day event, famous around the globe, as a mecca for lovers of Pinot noir and northwest cuisine. During the weekend, world-renowned winemakers, northwest chefs, esteemed media, epicures and wine lovers will gather in McMinnville, Oregon, for three days of exploring Pinot noir, savoring unforgettable meals, and learning and celebrating with luminaries of the food and wine world. Along with the speakers and chefs, it is the relaxing and festive atmosphere that sets the IPNC apart from all other wine events. Whether tasting Grand Cru Burgundy or walking through Oregon vineyards with the grower who planted them, guests find themselves unwinding in picturesque Oregon wine country for what wine legend Jancis Robinson described as "one of the most enjoyable wine weekends in the world". The 26th Annual IPNC will be held July 27 - 29, 2012. Tickets for the Full Weekend, Salmon Bake (Sold Out) and Sunday Walkabout events are sold on a first come, first serve basis! Register at our Online Store or by phone at 800-775-4762.

Ipnc is the best Pinot event I've ever attended! Not only do you get to taste delicious wine; there are great seminars and fun times! The opportunity to talk with winemakers and other enthusiasts is second to none. All this, a beautiful setting and fantastic food what more could you want! See you there!

The IPNC is the best multi-day wine-centered event I've been to and I've been to many. It is the annual gathering of the Pinot Noir nuts. The atmosphere is so relaxing, the food so good - it's almost enough to make up for hanging around with winemakers.
