Welcome to paulgregutt.com - covering wine-related topics of interest, controversy, and debate. My focus on Washington wines, Oregon wines, and the wineries of the entire Pacific Northwest is where the conversation begins. I hope you'll make this a regular feature of your own wine blog reading.

For more of my wine reviews and commentary, please visit my Facebook page, my Seattle Times Wine Adviser columns, and the thousands of wine tasting notes and reviews in the free Wine Enthusiast database.

If you are interested in a truly great wine country experience, check out my two rental cottages in Waitsburg. Each has 2BR/2BA suites, full kitchens, living room, expansive gardens, etc. See www.waitsburgcottages for more. I live right across the street and will be happy to suggest places to visit, eat and drink.

ship wine

Updated December, 2011

PLEASE DO NOT SEND WINES TO ME AT SEATTLE WINE STORAGE!

NEW ADDRESS & SHIPPING GUIDELINES:

Shipping Address:  230 West Street
Waitsburg, WA   99361

When mailing wines, please use cardboard shippers. No styrofoam of any kind! Please confirm your proposed shipping dates via e-mail BEFORE you send the wines to be sure I will be available to sign for your packages.

For each and every individual winery or winery brand, please submit new releases just twice a year. You may submit at any two convenient times, as I taste and review wines year round. Please send one bottle only if it uses a screwcap or glass or composite cork closure, two bottles for standard corks.

Washington and Oregon wineries please be sure to include the updated Wine Enthusiast submission form (with space for UPC numbers). You may download it here:

http://www.winemag.com/Wine-Enthusiast-Magazine/Contact-Us/

Please include technical info (blends, vineyard sources, etc.), suggested retail pricing, case quantities, % of alcohol, and the release date. The name (or names) of your Washington state distributor(s) are very important also!

Wines are tasted under controlled conditions in peer group blind flights. One submission is sufficient for consideration for all the different print and online outlets to which I contribute. Please do NOT re-submit wines a second time. If you have any concerns or questions, you may reach me at paulgwine@me.com.

Many thanks!

Music

upcoming performances

Walla Walla: Multi-instrumentalist Peter Crawford and I perform as Where’s Mary in and around Walla Walla. We are also available for bookings out of town. Sweet, acoustic music featuring great songs from the 30’s, 50’s, 70’s and 90’s. Nothing from those even-numbered decades!

Waitsburg In Waitsburg I am teamed up with Larry Davidson. Our acoustic guitar-based duo is the Wicker Chair Winos. A fine mix of original singer/songwriter material and classic blooz and country. Look for us at the Anchor Bar, and special events in the Waitsburg and Dayton area. I am posting some studio recordings on Soundcloud also. I have written hundreds of songs, and at one time was signed to a Nashville publishing company. I have worked and recorded at Electric Lady Studios in Manhattan, as well as many Seattle studios, and most recently, in Tacoma.

I am available for private seminars, guided tastings and speaking engagements for groups of all sizes. Whether you are looking for a themed tasting, a lively lecture/discussion, a wine class or an exploration of a specific topic, producer or vintage, I will work with you to create a uniquely memorable event.

Fees will be dependent upon the size of your group and the type of tasting you would like me to create. Examples: Varietal tastings, regional tastings, competitive (WA vs. CA) tastings, old vs. young wines, library wines - the possibilities are limitless.

Paul Gregutt’s Wine Adviser column appears each Sunday in the Seattle Times Pacific magazine. A different column runs the last Wednesday of each month in the Spokane Spokesman-Review. I am the Northwest editor for Wine Enthusiast magazine, and a founding member of its Tasting Panel. My reviews of Oregon and Washington wines appear exclusively in that publication and on this website.
